Taking Care of Your 40’s Skin

If you are in your 40’s or about to enter your 40’s then taking care of your skin needs to become a top priority of yours if it has not been to this point in your life. The telltale signs of aging often begin to appear once you pass the big 4-0. How you took care of your skin when you were younger also begins to show once you reach this stage of your life. What you need to know is how to take care of your 40’s skin to keep it looking its best.

No Hiding from Past Bad Habits

How you treated your skin in your 20’s and 30’s will begin to show once you reach your 40’s. There is no hiding from bad habits and your skin will quickly tell the tale so do not even try to fool it! What you need to do now is to adopt healthy routines and habits that will improve the condition and the appearance of your skin. Our skin changes from decade to decade and that is why we must be aware of these changes and make modifications to our skincare regimen as applicable.

Minimizing Fine Lines and Wrinkles

In your 40’s you need to do what is necessary to minimize fine lines and to keep your skin well hydrated. You also have to make sure that you use a good sunscreen and limit your exposure to the sun.

Skin texture changes once you pass the age of 40. There are different types of chemical peels available and you might want to try a professional one as a means of treating fine lines, wrinkles and sun spots. Peels are also beneficial in terms of smoothing the skin.

Using the Right Products

At home make sure you use retinoid products and those that contain glycolic acid. These products can help to even out your complexion and keep it looking its best.

Dermal fillers can provide you with the appearance boosters you need once you are in your 40’s. You might want to try Restylane which works for mild to moderate wrinkles on the face. For deeper wrinkles that have appeared Perlane is a good choice. Research has shown that dermal fillers may have more than just short-term benefits. In the long-term they may also encourage the skin to produce more collagen. This is something worth smiling about for all of the 40something ladies out there!
