Getting Wiggy! - Shopping for a Wig

If you have suffered hair loss and are distressed about it, (what woman wouldn’t be?!) you need to turn your attention to the wigs that are available to you. Or perhaps that is not your situation at all. Maybe you are in the mood for a new look that your natural hair cannot give you. Whatever your reason may be- need or want- selecting a wig is not a simple task. Here were offer some help for you.

The Cost

Before you do anything else, you need to think about your budget. The price range for wigs ranges from very high to a more affordable low. If you want a high-end wig, you could be looking at spending thousands of dollars. If you want a good wig but don’t have to have the absolute best that money can buy, expect to spend well into the hundreds and up to a thousand dollars. While the high-end ones are worth it, not everyone can afford to spend that kind of cash on a wig. Not to worry however, because there are plenty of other cost savvy options.

Real or Synthetic: Take Your Pick

Wigs are constructed from either genuine human hair or synthetic hair. They are either homemade or are made by way of a special machine. The cheapest wigs are machine-made and use synthetic hair, while the priciest ones are handmade and are completely fashioned from authentic human hair.

In trying to decide whether you should purchase a real wig or a synthetic one, what you need to know is that a wig made of real hair feels the most natural and looks the most natural. It is versatile enough to make you feel as though you are not wearing a wig at all!

You can style the real human hair wig in the same manner that you would style your own hair. It can be colored, highlighted, curled, or straightened. However, you are limited in styling options if you opt for a synthetic wig.

On the flip side of the coin, there is less versatility when it comes to synthetic hair, but what you gain is a high level of durability. For those who play sports or are very active in other ways, a synthetic wig would be the best choice for your life. The maintenance for synthetic hair is easier to do. As well, this type of wig will have a longer life. Keep in mind too, as previously mentioned that synthetic wigs are more affordable and will fit the budgets of those living on a modest income.

Only you can decide which kind of wig would be best for you. Weigh the pros and cons of each choice carefully before you make your selection. Then go get wiggy and have fun with your new hair alternative!
